First Cheeseday of the month

Matching cheese and wine
Perfect Partners - cheese and wine

The first Tuesday of each month is also Pātaka’s First Cheeseday.  We will be showcasing products from our local cheese suppliers matched with Marlborough wines.  Each First Cheeseday will focus on a different cheese range or winery with either a cheesemaker or winemaker here to share the secrets of their craft and demonstrate the perfect pairing of cheese and a complementary wine.

There will be opportunity to relax and enjoy the company of friends, warm yourself on our homemade soup and bread and purchase a glass of wine.

First Cheeseday at Pātaka is too good to miss.

Soft drinks, tea, coffee and hot chocolate also available.

Tickets $25 include 5 cheese and complementary wine  tastings.

Tuesday 5th December

Thorvald - stolen from the gods

Thorvald Cheese

At last we have managed to pin down Dave Barrett from Thorvald Cheese to head over the hill and share his story and his cheeses with us.

Thorvald raise sheep in the Neudorf valley, an area of green rolling hills with the magnificent backdrop of the Mt Arthur range.  Julie, the Thorvald Shepherd has raised a flock of East Friesian and Awassi sheep providing excellent quality milk.  This is the is the raw product that cheesemaker Francis uses for a range of stunning and award-winning cheeses.  Their farm and factory was recently featured on Country Calendar.

Naturally at Patāka we believe great cheeses deserve great Marlborough wines – a match made in heaven, but available to you at Pātaka the Foodstore.

Relax in Pātaka’s cosy venue and enjoy the perfect combination of a selection of Thorvald’s stunning cheeses matched with wines from the Lake Chalice range, the company of good friends and some inspiring stories.

Soft drinks, tea, coffee also available.

Scottish, Irish and American folk music

With Strings Attached

We are thrilled to welcome With Strings Attached back to Pātaka to kick off our series of “Tuesdays” for 2018.

Helen and Bruce play a range of folk and bluegrass tunes and songs they have collected over many years playing together.  With fiddle, guitar, banjo (20 strings in all) plus voice and bodhran this duo will keep you entertained for the evening with mainly Irish, Scottish and American influences but a smattering of items from all over the world.  Their simple approach to selecting new tunes for the repertoire is “if we like it, we’ll have a crack”.   It works for them and for their audience who are treated to a toe-tapping treat.

Tickets $10.

Lake Chalice wines, soft drinks and delicious homemade snacks available.
